When thinking of Tennessee, many people think of its country music scene as opposed to its top-rated collegiate educational structure. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission oversees the public schools in the state, which are broken up into the University of Tennessee system. The system has campuses located throughout the state. The public school system houses four-year universities, community colleges, as well as ample technological training schools. In addition to the state schools, private colleges also make their home in Tennessee. Enrolling more than 12,000 students, Vanderbilt University is the largest private school in the state. Tennessee’s private and public schools both offer virtual course which enable its students to advance their education right from home enabling them to maintain their work or family commitments.
